body thoughts

"I think I look beautiful in a lot of them, yeah. Because it's honest, it's just, that's just how I look in that position."

-- BodyThoughts

This exhibit is so powerful. Although I haven't yet been able to see it in person, I've been following what these fabulous women have been doing for quite some time.

As a photographer, an art-lover, a creative, and more importantly, a woman, a daughter, a mother, and a human being, this speaks to me on so many levels. From my own experiences and struggles with body image growing up, to watching and learning from my own mother, whether through direct conversation or quiet observation, to the changes my body has experienced through pregnancy and child birth, to my hopes for my own daughter's perception of self; this conversation matters more than I can put into words.

And, I am not alone: I don't believe that there is a single woman out there who hasn't at one point had some interaction with her own inner monologue about body image and self worth. This conversation needs to continue.
